A Life of Purpose

The Man Behind the Mission

Shri Leeladhar Bhatt was a man whose life exemplified quiet, steadfast service to those around him. Rooted in the hills of Uttarakhand, he understood firsthand the challenges faced by communities in remote India — the lack of access to education, healthcare, and basic opportunity — and he made it his calling to bridge that gap wherever he could. His philosophy was simple but profound: that genuine progress is measured not in personal achievement, but in the lives one lifts along the way.

When Shri Bhatt passed away, his son Rajendra Bhatt chose the most fitting tribute — not a memorial of stone or ceremony, but a living institution. In 2002, the Dr. Leeladhar Bhatt Memorial Kalyan Samiti was registered in Haldwani, Uttarakhand — carrying forward his values across every programme and community it serves.

How It Began

A Son's Tribute That Became a Movement

When Shri Rajendra Bhatt decided to honour his father's memory, he chose not flowers or inscriptions — but action. He gathered like-minded individuals and formalised the work his father had championed throughout his life.

2002

The Samiti is formally registered by Shri Rajendra Bhatt. Initial work focuses on education and healthcare in and around Haldwani, Uttarakhand.

Early Years

Deep community trust established across Kumaon. Focus expands to women's empowerment, skill development, and animal welfare.

Elara Partnership

Elara Capital designates the Samiti as the operational ground arm of Elara Foundation — 100% of funds reach beneficiaries directly.
